Small Apartment Decor In Hong Kong Revitalized With New Layout

Like many old homes, this Hong Kong apartment was initially divided into several small rooms, each with a specific function. While this layout was once practical, it now feels claustrophobic. To create a more suitable living space, the owner and her beloved cat enlisted the help of littleMORE Interior Design studio.

Given the small size of this place (only 260 square feet/ 24 square meters), the designers had to come up with clever small apartment decor ideas to make it feel like home. The 35 year old apartment gradually transformed from individual spaces into a more open and airy space. This was achieved by knocking down interior walls and connecting rooms like the living area and the bedroom.

Although now technically the same, the living room, bedroom, and home office retain their individual uniqueness. The separation is achieved through key furniture and a raised platform with a custom bookcase.

The kitchen is a separate space with a glass panel sliding door that visually connects it to the rest of the apartment. The bathroom is small and hidden behind a secret door on the big wall unit in the living area. Another small apartment design idea is a cozy sitting nook by the two big windows on the back wall.
