House in Paradise Valley by Kendle Design Collaborative The entryway of the House in Paradise Valley, designed by Kendle Design Collaborative, is a true reflection of the surrounding landscape. The design seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a harmonious connection between the two. The use of natural materials, such as stone and wood, adds warmth and texture to the space. The large windows allow for an abundance of natural light to fill the entryway, further blurring the lines between the interior and exterior. The entryway not only serves as a transition between the outside world and the interior of the house but also as a statement of the overall design aesthetic.
Its simplicity and elegance set the tone for the rest of the home. The House in Paradise Valley is a perfect example of how thoughtful design can enhance the living experience and create a sense of place.
Deserts are hostile places which make building and living here a challenge. The desert landscape has inspired architects to come up with interesting designs. These are some cool houses to find out here.
Cool desert homes that optimize arid landscapes.
A beautiful desert oasis.
This house was designed and built by Kendle Design Collaborative. The strategy was to celebrate the desert landscape, resulting in a modern structure that blends in with the surroundings and offers a nice view. The local vegetation surrounding the house enhances the oasis-like atmosphere.
Industrial vibes also complement the desert surroundings.
Here’s another stunning desert house that maximizes the remarkable desert landscape. Designed and built by studio Olson Kundig, it seamlessly integrates with the surroundings and feels perfectly at home. The modern-industrial aesthetic effortlessly incorporates large windows that embrace the panoramic views, making them an integral part of the interior design.
Not many people willingly live in the scorching Nevada desert, which makes this house unique. Its owners settled here as an homage to a late family member whose last words were “Zabriskie Point.” They chose to build a beautiful modern house in Death Valley, a modest and simple design that fulfills all their wishes.
Stylish vacation house on sloping desert land
Creativity and ingenuity are integral to the success of projects like this contemporary vacation house. Situated on a sloping desert site, the house is surrounded by rocky patches of land and minimal vegetation, primarily cacti. This unique location was chosen by studio nüform for the project.
While the house itself is structured on a single floor, its elevation is considerably higher due to the sloping terrain.
Floating studio suspended on pillars
This beautiful artist’s studio was built by Chen + Suchart Studio in Paradise Valley, Arizona. It’s an addition to an existing residence but stands out through its unique aesthetic. The studio features reflective glazed surfaces, giving it a lightweight and breezy appearance.
Additionally, it seems to be floating thanks to its concrete pillar foundation.
Although the landscape surrounding this house is harsh, the owners embraced the views and integrated them into their home. This contemporary desert home, designed by Wendell Burnette Architects, features a fluid mix of indoor and outdoor spaces connected by an oversized roof canopy.
A sleek design
Black is not the first color that comes to mind when thinking of desert houses, which makes this structure peculiar. It stands out by being simple and challenging the obvious. Studio Oller & Pejic Architecture created its minimalist design to reflect the topography of the site, including the interior layout and the movement between rooms.
Everything is organized linearly, with a lovely courtyard at the center.
The idea of a prefabricated house is practical in the desert where the climate poses challenges. This method expedites construction and turns adversity into an advantage. For instance, architect Marmol Radziner designed an impressive house that appears to float on a raised platform, creating a striking visual effect.
In an effort to integrate the desert landscape into their design, studio The Ranch Mine created an interesting layout for this house in Arizona. From the outside, it appears as a big rectangular volume with large openings and sliding glass doors and windows that allow for easy indoor-outdoor transition. However, the interior reveals a central courtyard and an O-shaped configuration, providing each room with a view of the landscape.
