Top 10 Favorite Ikea Kitchen Hacks
Among the numerous Ikea hacks we’ve collected, some have become our favorites. The Ikea kitchen island designs we shared definitely inspired many DIY enthusiasts. And we can’t overlook the drop leaf dining table designs, which are excellent space savers, or the various ways you can hack Ikea spice racks.
We have included some of these favorites in our list.
A tiny kitchen island is the perfect addition for small kitchens. Transforming an Ikea Bekvam kitchen cart is a great way to make one. The project is simple: paint the cart, add a countertop and a towel rod.
That’s all you need to do.
Not satisfied with your dining table? Improve its looks and make it less bulky. Remove the legs and trim around the top (an Ikea Jokkmokk table).
Sand the table, then attach hairpin legs instead of the old ones.
How about turning an Expedit into a customizable kitchen island? This one even has cutouts in the countertop for easy garbage disposal. Get creative with it!
The island is also equipped with wheels for effortless mobility.
Open shelves in the kitchen are practical. If you don’t have any, consider making some using Ikea brackets. Attach the brackets to wooden boards for the desired shelves.
These Ikea kitchen carts are highly versatile and customizable, allowing you to add color to your kitchen and maximize storage. Disassemble and sand the cart, then apply three coats of dark walnut stain to the top. Prime and paint the frame, shelves, and drawers.
Once all parts are dry, reassemble the cart.
A Ikea Kallax bookshelf can be transformed into a stylish kitchen bar cart. Once assembled, add casters for mobility. Next, measure and mark the desired handle placement.
Drill holes, attach the handles, and start enjoying your new bar cart.
The Dalfred bar stools from Ikea are popular, but sometimes they may not have the ideal look for your kitchen. That’s where your DIY ingenuity can help. Use gold spray paint to give the stools an elegant and glamorous appearance. Mark the areas you want painted with tape.
If you’re patient, you can also paint the hardware.
Keep your spices organized in labeled jars and display them on the kitchen wall. After labeling and filling the jars, use two Bibba picture ledges from Ikea to display them in the kitchen. This will help keep the spice jars organized.
Maximize the storage capacity of your kitchen cabinets, specifically the one under the sink, with Ikea Knuff magazine holders. Attach one to the interior of the cabinet door and use it to store various supplies.
If you want, there are other complex projects you can try. For example, make a storage unit that also has a table extension you can use as a prep area or a bar. The main piece you’ll use is an Expedit bookshelf.
Add a pull-out countertop, handles, and doors for some of the storage cubbies if you’d rather hide the mess inside.
