Tucked in London’s Northern district, this townhouse has a rich history and recently received a new extension. It was the inaugural project of Merrett Houmøller Architects, who successfully preserved the original character of the house while giving the extension its unique identity. The addition enhances the house’s connection with the garden and expands its indoor-outdoor living space.

You can find another old house with a modern extension in King’s Cross, London. This Victorian home has a preserved exterior with a minimalist addition at the back. Fraher Architects added the extension, which is clad in perforated black metal and glass.

The contrast between the original house and the addition adds to its charm.

This is not a regular home, but a unique residence in Primrose Hill, London. Formerly an industrial building, it has since been converted into a modern residence. The structure, which is 60 years old, now consists of a three-bedroom house and two one-bedroom apartments.

The transformation was completed by Patalab Architecture studio.

Inside, there is a main living area and a studio above it. This section has its own identity while still being part of the overall design.

It manages to stand out and blend in at the same time, which is noteworthy and deserving of admiration.
