A small weekend house inspired by traditional Mongolian tents, this dwelling on Ganghwa Island in South Korea is reminiscent of the portable gers used by Mongolian nomadic groups. Designed by AtelierJun, the house features a centered opening with the living space concentrated around it.

The owner desired a small house and initially planned for a single-storey home with an attic. However, after reconsideration, a two-storey house was built instead, providing 99 square meters of living space, suitable for a cozy weekend house. As previously mentioned, this house features a distinctive design with a roof that lacks eaves, giving it a clean and minimalist appearance.

Additionally, the roof is asymmetrical and slopes towards a central point above the living room, accompanied by a skylight that allows sunlight to enter the space below.

The house exterior is simple, featuring gray clay surfaces covering all sides except one. Warm wood accents and large glass windows and doors define this facade. The interior has white walls and light wooden floors, emphasizing the bright natural light. The living room overlooks the South garden with easy outdoor access.

It receives ample light through the windows and skylight above. The second storey is smaller and has angled walls, creating a cozy feel.
